Around 70% of practicing veterinarians in the U.S. are women, and that majority continues to grow. In veterinary schools, the shift is even more pronounced, with over 80% of students and applicants identifying as female.

This is not just about increased representation. It is a complete reshaping of the profession’s identity. Women are not simply entering the field. They are defining it and shaping its culture, priorities, and future trajectory.

While we’ve dominated the industry in numbers, the structure of veterinary medicine was originally built for a different era, one that didn't always account for the dual roles of mother, caretaker, and "average superhuman" that so many women navigate daily.

We know the reality: the burnout is real, and the work-life ratio has historically been tilted heavily toward "work." If we want a sustainable future for our industry, we have to break down barriers and empower these veterinarians.
